Huge buffs in next Apex patch could help one legend rise from the ashes

Diving onto E-District as your new main.

The Apex Legends Space Hunt event will make a forgotten legend popular again—and it’s about time. Likely shattering the most recent meta, her rebirth has been teased since the arrival of E-District. It’s time to let those jetpack thrusters sing and Skyward Dive once again, for season 22.1 is right around the corner.

The Space Hunt Event in the Apex season 22 mid-season update will forever change the way Valkyrie is played. A similar rebirthing of a legend was achieved with Revenant (albeit with torn community reactions), but Respawn’s sights are now on Valk. These massive buffs see Valk change class, now giving her the Recon role. Part and parcel with her jetpack and diving mobility, she will now see enemies appear in a red outline when aiming down sights and while in the air, improving her current scanning capabilities when Skyward Diving.

Her jetpack fuel tank refuel delay will be reduced by half, with a focus on better mobility that resembles her initial launch back in season nine. Mobility isn’t the sole focus of these buffs, however. Her missiles will receive multiple improvements that should make her more lethal mid-fight, creating a unique hybrid legend with abilities similar to Seer and Ash’s tacticals.

Unlike other Recon legends, Valk will be able to use Threat Vision while jetpacking and skydiving. This means she can rotate to areas safer than a team going in blind (using an Evac or Jump Tower). Enthusiastic about this upcoming changes, BLEED Esports coach Raven believes “Valk is so back,” hinting that the meta will likely change in the lead-up to Champs.

The ALGS pick rate for Valkyrie drastically declined due to the arrival of Evac Towers in season 17. This led to the inevitable removal of Valk from the competitive meta.

With the mid-season patch notes in mind, her buffs will make her the perfect legend to traverse across the labyrinthine design of E-District. Her pick rate may currently sit at 1.2 percent, but these changes transform an obsolete character into one of the more balanced legends in the game, giving her the boost she needs to propel herself out of the battle royale ashes.
