When Apex Legends first came out, Respawn Entertainment relied on the power of streaming and online content creators to help advertise its game. It worked very well. The game drew 50 million players worldwide in its first month. More than a month in, however, its staying power is beginning to wane with streamers as the game struggles to update content regularly

Those issues were recently addressed by one of Twitch’s most influential streamers, DrDisrespect, who says that Apex Legends‘ lack of new content is worrying for the game and its future. “We’ve experienced it all in Apex that you could possibly even do and I’m just a little burnt out on it,” he said on stream.

The Doc also gave his opinion on the season one Battle Pass, which he does not think will do much for Apex in the long run of things. “With excitement and interest, it’s kind of already tapering off—actually kind of quickly.” He said as he continued to say that a Battle Pass would only help maintain numbers temporarily.

This was a problem that many people saw coming with Apex Legends, even with their Battle Pass. With a lack of game modes, a lack of characters, and a single playable map, Apex had to bring something more to the table to keep people’s interest in a world where people switch from game to game at the flip of a switch.

In fact, there are plenty of criticisms about the Battle Pass itself, with many fans saying the pass isn’t worth buying due to the lack of unique content. We are getting a new legend this month with Octane, but he might not have enough to keep the current players from leaving while also attracting new players to join the fray.
