In conjunction with the launch of the second season of Gamerz, a reality show where 12 aspiring Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professionals compete against each other, the winners of the upcoming season will become part of Fnatic’s CS:GO academy squad. “Partnering with GAMERZ gives us again an opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with the newer generations,” Fnatic’s chief gaming officer Patrik “cArn” Sättermon told the Esports Observer.

The formula Gamerz utilizes was pitched as “Big Brother meets gaming,” and saw its inaugural season broadcast out of Stockholm. The contestants on the two competing teams were coached by Swedish Counter-Strike legends Abdisamad “SpawN” Mohamed and Oskar “ins” Holm.

The second season of the show will, however, be broadcast from a studio in London, in an attempt to expose the show to an international audience. Fnatic, which is based in London, previously fielded one of the most successful academy teams in the semi-professional tournament circuit at the beginning of 2017. Due to a change of the rules surrounding ownership of multiple teams attending Valve Majors, however, the squad had to attempt to qualify for the Kraków Major under a different name and organization. In the past four months, Fnatic’s academy roster has continued to hemorrhage players, and now only retains two players.

UK Gamerz will begin airing on Twitch at the start of 2018.
