A SEA telecom company is putting on a $300,000 tournament in Singapore

Dota 2, Arena of Valor, and the Hearthstone Championship Tournament highlight the event.

The PVP Championship, a brand new esports tournament for the Southeast Asian market, will soon be launching for Hearthstone, Dota 2, and Arena of Valor with a shared $300,000 prize pool. The dates and venues have yet to be announced.

The tournament will be run by Singtel, one of the largest telecommunications companies in SEA. This is the company’s first foray into esports and it plans to start with a bang.

For starters, the Hearthstone tournament will be in partnership with Activision Blizzard and will serve as Singapore’s stop on the game’s professional circuit, the Hearthstone Championship Tour. Dot Esports has reached out to Blizzard to find out more information on the Hearthstone portion of the event.

Singtel will also be inviting professional teams from Europe, China, and North America to participate in the PVP Championship alongside regional qualifiers in countries in the SEA region. Singtel has not confirmed which teams or players will be taking part at this time.

Singtel plans to host these regionals by using its links with other SEA regional telecommunications companies that it has a stake in. It will host qualifiers for its main event in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, and India.

Singtel isn’t the first telecommunications company to invest in esports, however. Monoliths from the industry, such as SK Telecom and the KT Corporation have invested heavily in the esports scene in South Korea for decades, creating world championship-level teams.
