Here are all the difficulty settings in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 and what they do.
All Campaign difficulties in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2
Easy
Easy difficulty allows you to focus on the story with minimal effort needed to clear missions, without the fear of dying. In this mode, enemies are significantly less aggressive, and you are provided with the most Health and Armor you can get throughout the game.
Normal
In Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, enemies are moderately aggressive but not overwhelming on Normal difficulty. You’ll have a moderate amount of Health and Armor, and while resources are not too sparse, you’ll need to use them in moderation. This difficulty mode is for those who are used to action games but don’t want an overly challenging experience.
Veteran
The Veteran difficulty option is how the developers intend the game to be played. While not advised for anyone new to action games of this type, it provides the most satisfying combat experience as enemies are dangerous and boss fights are overwhelmingly tough, making each victory feel rewarding. Each combat scenario will also need good tactics and strategic plays to overcome, and resources are considerably scarce.
Angel of Death
As the foreboding name suggests, the Angel of Death difficulty is the most challenging one in the game. Enemies are the most dangerous they can be and require much more effort to defeat. They’re also the most aggressive they can be and will relentlessly chase after you and your squad. Your Health and Armor also depletes much quicker, and resources are exhausted faster. This mode is advised for players who are not only experts but also have a reliable squad to fight with.
All Operations Mode Difficulty Settings in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2
Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 also includes the Operations mode, where you face several challenging PvE scenarios with friends. This mode also has several difficulty settings or threat levels, all with various advantages and disadvantages.
Threat: Minimal
This threat level is tailored to new players or players looking to test out new strategies. It is the easiest difficulty setting where supplies are plentiful and enemies aren’t tough. With this setting, your second Incapacitation inflicts a Mortal Wound, and you’ll be rewarded with 35 Armory Data of the Master-crafted variant of your weapons.
Threat: Average
The Average threat level is the standard setting. It provides more challenge, reduced equipment drops, and less effective Medical Stims. You will face more aggressive hordes of enemies, and like the first setting, your second Incapacitation inflicts a Mortal Wound. You’ll also be rewarded with 55 Armory Data of the Master-crafted variant for your weapons. This is the standard difficulty setting for the Operations mode, and players who are well versed with action game should find this setting comfortably challenging.
Threat: Substantial
The Substantial threat level is where things start getting even more challenging. Enemies are significantly harder to defeat and are incredibly aggressive. With this setting, the equipment drops are reduced, Medical Stims are even less effective for restoring Health, and your first Incapacitation inflicts a Mortal Wound instead of your second. The Armory Data has also been upgraded to the Artificer type, and you now earn 95 Armory Data. This setting puts players to the test and requires you to be aware of your surroundings at al time.
Threat: Ruthless
The Ruthless difficulty setting is only for the daring and the prepared. It is only recommended if you are level 15 and above. It is the highest difficulty setting for the Operations mode, where enemies are overwhelming, relentless, and incredibly powerful. What’s more, Medical Stims are even less effective and near useless, and like the Substantial threat level, your first Incapacitation inflicts a Mortal Wound. The Armory Data has also been upgraded to the Relic type, and you now receive 165 Armory Data.
