How to get to the Darkmoon Faire in WoW The War Within

Does anyone want to go on the creepy rollercoaster?

The Darkmoon Faire is an exotic and somewhat creepy limited-time event in World of Warcraft. While it’s exciting to play, getting to the Faire isn’t so easy and requires players to find several specific portals before they can get involved. Here’s how to get to the Darkmoon Faire, how to check if the event is live, and when future events will begin.

How to get to the Darkmoon Faire in WoW The War Within

You can get to the Darkmoon Faire in WoW during the event period by using your faction’s Darkmoon Faire portal. So, depending on your faction, you must find and use that portal to get to the Faire.

The Horde portal to the Darkmoon Faire can be found south of Thunder Bluffs in Mulgore, roughly at the coordinates 36 and 35. The Alliance portal to the Darkmoon Faire can be found just outside Goldshire in Elywnn Forest, roughly at the coordinates 41 and 69. If you don’t use a coordinates addon, I highly recommend using TomTom because you can input these coordinates and an arrow will appear directing you to the location. Otherwise, you can fly to either location and look for the circus tents and a large portal with a moving eye.

There’s a slightly easier way to get to these Darkmoon Faire portals too, though it’ll cost you—you can pay the Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage in either Orgrimmar at the coordinates 48 and 62, or Stormwind at the coordinates 62 and 32.

It only costs 25 Bronze, and it’s worth it (at least, it is to me because I have a poor sense of direction and would get lost trying to find the portal by myself).

Once you’ve found your portal, interact with it to get to the Darkmoon Faire. Unlike regular portals, this one doesn’t have a smoke swirl in the center to indicate it’s a portal. You just have to walk up to it; a gold cog icon will appear indicating you can interact with it. So, if you’re like me and were looking for some sign it’s a portal and not just an arch, you won’t find one.

Although it’s tempting to head off and experience all the creepy wonders of the Darkmoon Faire, you need to check if the Darkmoon Faire event is live. This is because you can only get to the Darkmoon Faire during specific The War Within periods.

If you’re unsure when the event will occur, you can check the in-game WoW calendar. You can access this calendar by clicking on the small calendar icon in the top right-hand corner.

On this calendar, you’ll see all the events in WoW, like the Darkmoon Faire event, and you can even switch months to check future events. The first Darkmoon Faire event since The War Within dropped is live and will end on Saturday, Sept. 7. The next Darkmoon Faire event will begin on Sunday, Oct. 6. and end on Oct. 12. The easiest way to remember all this is to note The War Within event runs for seven days and begins on the first Sunday of every month.
