Infernus allows you to unleash your inner arsonist on the streets of The Cursed Apple. With the right build, no one is safe from this fiery menace.
Here’s the best Infernus build in Deadlock, including items, ability order, and a few tips.
Infernus’s abilities in Deadlock
Infernus deals damage over time, which means even though you can’t deal high burst damage to delete the opposing player, they won’t stand a chance as long as you’re consistent with your abilities.
Here are all of the Infernus’s abilities in Deadlock:
- Catalyst: Spew napalm that slows enemy movement and amplifies the damage Infernus does to them.
- Flame Dash: Move forward at high speed and leave a flame trail that burns enemies
- Afterburn: Your bullets build up to apply a burning effect on enemies. Infernus’s bullets and abilities refresh the duration.
- Concussive Combustion (ultimate): Turns you into a living bomb that explodes after a short delay, stunning all enemies in its radius.
Afterburn is Infernus’s core ability. It allows you to apply the burning effect using your weapon as soon as you step on the street, increasing your overall damage. A default combo is to hit an enemy with Catalyst, then shoot at them to apply Afterburn, rinse, and repeat. Infernus uses his finger as a fast-firing weapon, similar to Wraith’s submachine gun, but with less ammo and faster reload speed, allowing you to consistently apply Afterburn.
Flame Dash is a movement ability you can use to quickly fly in or out of fights, depending on the situation. Flame Dash also pairs well with your ultimate, Concussive Combustion, allowing you to be more agile when trying to stun enemies.
The best build for Infernus in Deadlock
Early game
Infernus’s abilities focus on Lifesteal and dealing DoT ability damage by attacking with bullets, and this build aims to capitalize on that. Early items include a mix of all three categories, including Basic Magazine, Rapid Rounds, Enduring Spirit, Sprint Boots, Infuser, and Extra Spirit.
This should give you a good base to lean into Infernus’s kit. When you’re in the late game and running out of slots, feel free to sell some of these items, like Rapid Rounds and Enduring Spirit, which have better alternatives at later stages.
For abilities, start by unlocking Afterburn, then Catalyst and Flame Dash. Focus on leveling Afterburn while investing points in your ultimate Concussive Combustion whenever possible.
Mid game
In the mid-game, you start building a lot of Lifesteal and bonus Spirit Damage to amplify Afterburn. Start with Soul Shredder Bullets, which goes hand in hand with Spirit Lifesteal. Toxic Bullets are also nice for additional DoT, but you can always swap them out for something else, as there’s no direct synergy with Afterburn.
The main three Spirit items to pick up are Improved Spirit, Mystic Vulnerability, and Supressor. All are components for the late-game items, so keep that in mind if you decide to alter the build.
Among Vitality items, you want a Healing Booster, Ensuring Speed, and Spirit Armor. Spirit Armor works well with the Suppressor. As long as you consistently apply Afterburn, the enemy’s fire rate will always be slowed, forcing them to use more abilities. You can also swap Spirit Armor for Bullet Armor, depending on the matchup.
Ability-wise, continue investing in Afterburn, Concussive Combustion, and Catalyst in that order. Once done, you can level up the Flame Dash.
Late game
The late game is about doubling down on what we started in the mid-game. Spiritual Overflow, Crippling Headshot, and Leech are great items to start with for even more ability damage and Lifesteal.
Next, you want to finish Escalating Exposure, Boundless Spirit, Improved Spirit Armor (or Bullet), and Mystic Slow from components you bought during mid-game. Close off with Ricochet and Diviner’s Kevlar to become a powerful diver with your ultimate.
This build leaves a few flex slots open if you manage to destroy all four Walkers. At this point, I recommend picking up some active items to shake up the battlefield.
