One new feature makes finding collectibles in The Casting of Frank Stone less of a chore

Supermassive makes it easier to find collectibles and helpful items in The Casting of Frank Stone.

What makes Supermassive games intense and suspenseful are the small choices you can make to save characters or track down items that can change a character’s fate. Many of these items are helpful but tedious to find, but The Casting of Frank Stone makes finding these collectibles much easier.

Some of these collectibles were revealed in a feature reveal trailer posted today by developer Supermassive before the launch of The Casting of Frank Stone on Sept. 3. The trailer breaks down several vital details that have not appeared in previous Supermassive games, with the biggest one being called the Cutting Room Floor. Here, players act as the director and observe all the key scenes and various choices they can make, getting the chance to replay those scenes to produce different outcomes or track down any collectibles they might have missed during that sequence.

It’s a helpful feature that makes any perfectionist’s life much easier. Rather than replaying the game to track down every individual missing collectible, players can jump between sequences in The Casting of Frank Stone for a much faster experience. It’s a massive quality-of-life improvement for Supermassive fans, especially for anyone wanting to check out every possible ending these games offer.

Another feature previewed in this trailer is called Plunderer’s Instinct, a direct nod to Behaviour Interactive and Dead by Daylight. Plunderer’s Instinct is a perk in Dead by Daylight that highlights closed chests for Survivors, making it easier to find them quickly and discover helpful items. In The Casting of Frank Stone, Plunderer’s Instinct makes highlighting hidden objects that contain helpful collectibles capable of saving a character’s life easier. Again, this quality-of-life feature makes finding every collectible much easier.

These features are not available to players playing through The Casting of Frank Stone for the first time unless they pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition. If they do, these features are available immediately. For those who don’t, these features will be unlocked when they complete the game at least once.

We only have a few weeks left before we can experience The Casting of Frank Stone’s horror story. This feature highlight trailer gave us a much better idea of what to expect from the game, and while it’s heavily infused in the DNA of a Supermassive horror game, Dead by Daylight‘s influence on a tale like this can only boost it forward.
