Does the Borderlands movie have a post-credits scene?

Take your seats.

The Borderlands movie hasn’t set the world alight with early reviews, but fans of the franchise are still likely to tune in. As with any new film, though, a big question is whether it has a post-credits scene—and we can tell you.

Marvel’s Cinematic Universe started the trend of post-credits scenes, often providing huge reveals of future titles, and many others have followed suit. They’re not always big teases, however, and are sometimes just jokes or tongue-in-cheek comments.

Borderlands certainly feels like a franchise that can do a good job mocking this approach, and we’ve got the answer on whether you should stay seated when the credits start to roll.

There is no post-credits scene in the Borderlands movie. However, you shouldn’t jump up and leave straight away, as the film does include a mid-credits scene.

This news shouldn’t come as a surprise, given the CEO of Gearbox previously told IGN that a Borderlands Cinematic Universe is planned, but it remains to be seen whether this plan has changed in the wake of negative reviews.

The inclusion of a mid-credits tease doesn’t guarantee that we’ll see anything teased acted upon, as movies often provide huge teases without a follow-up—including the tease towards the Sinister Six in Amazing Spider-Man 2 and 2008’s Incredible Hulk teasing the addition of the Leader—a character only now set to make an appearance in next year’s Captain America: Brave New World.

If you want to know exactly what is shown in the mid-credits scene, read on. Beware of major spoilers ahead.

What is the Borderlands mid-credit scene?

Those hoping for a big tease for future Borderlands movies will be disappointed, as there is no such reveal. Instead, Borderlands opted for a small joke for viewers to enjoy without hinting at the future direction of the franchise.

The scene, according to GamesRadar, only lasts for a few moments and features Claptrap dancing and making a fourth-wall joke that this was his “Easter Egg” before the credits continue.
