Fallout London dev addresses critical HP bug by giving you a math equation to solve

This game-breaking glitch makes you lose most of your health.

Fallout London had a fairly rough launch, but given the mod’s size and clunky installation process, we aren’t too surprised. Now, the latest issue is making players’ HP shrinking dramatically, and according to the developer on July 30, the only way to fix it is by solving a math equation.

The bug in question is related to the initial stages of the mod’s story that sees players riding a train through the remnants of post-nuclear London. The train ride makes the game crash for some players, and when they reboot, they’re left with abysmally low HP that leaves them open to all sorts of danger.

Until an official fix arrives, the developer posted a math equation on the official Discord. With it, you can give your character the correct amount of health using console commands.

“For your current saves, work out what your character’s max HP should be using the formula below,” Team FOLON dev Callum Quick wrote. He explained players should “work out the difference between that and your current max HP” and employ the use of the “modav command” (not setav) to reach the desired result.

For those who liked how the crash impacted their overall gameplay with the lower HP, Quick tells them to “leave it be” and enjoy the challenge. The “Life Giver” perk can impact the equation as well, so be mindful of that.

The developer also explained that fixing the bug is the team’s top priority, and that it will be addressed in the upcoming first patch. Fallout: London is still a bit clunky, and its installation process alone, which requires you to downgrade your Fallout 4 version, is enough of a headache. But at least the mod is out, unlike many other total overhauls that never saw the light of day.

Some players liked having low HP because it gave the early stages of Fallout London an intense sense of dread, so Quick said the team will extend the “Lab Rat” affliction to bump up the effect and make it feel more organic after the HP bug is fixed.
