EA releases Apex Legends community tournament guidelines

EA wants to make sure you aren't making a commercial profit.

EA unveiled its official Apex Legends community tournament guidelines to ensure that fans know what they can (and can’t) do in regards to creating competitions.

There are eight main points that fans must follow when forming a community tournament. The first rule requires the tournament to not be for commercial profit.

While this doesn’t mean that tournament managers can’t make money off of it, they aren’t allowed to make much more beyond covering the costs of the event. This is expanded upon in a later point that the tournament must not generate more than $10,000 from streaming revenue.

Similarly, the total prize pool can’t exceed $10,000 for all events in the calendar year. Tournament fees must be low as well and can’t be more than $20 per participant. Any use of EA trademarks or affiliation is forbidden, too.

The final Apex community tournament guideline deals with sponsors and partnerships. Community events are allowed to have sponsorships, but companies related to alcohol, weapons, tattoos, gambling, politics, and more aren’t permitted.

Although these may seem like harsh requirements, it’s better than EA just banning any and all fan events.
