Twitch has reduced the suspension of popular League of Legends streamer Ashkan “TF Blade” Homayouni from 30 days to seven.
He was suspended last night by the platform for allegedly using the n-word during his latest livestream. But he denied this, saying he was misheard when he said “idiot,” and that he “got suspended on Twitch for something I never said.”
TF Blade shared what he says is an email he got back from Twitch support staff after contesting his suspension. “To be as objective as possible, they had numerous people listen to the clip, and unfortunately they all also heard the N-word,” the staffer wrote. “I relayed your response, and highlighted your history, specifically your lack of previous infractions, and after further review, the appeals team has agreed to reduce your suspension from 30 days down to 7 days.”
TF Blade said that Twitch leaving the suspension for seven days isn’t right. “They are literally going to just ruin my reputation on a mistake that is on their side, this is truly unfair,” TF Blade wrote. “All the sponsors will look at this without the full context and take the wrong point. I am seriously frustrated with this.”
Other streamers and personalities have been trying to help TF Blade prove he was misheard. Even Riot Game’s gameplay data lead Blaustoise defended him by showing the suspension clip and claiming that it’s easier to hear “idiots” after you hear someone else saying the word several times before TF Blade allegedly says it.
Though TF Blade’s case seems to be closed from Twitch’s point of view, the platform has suspended players wrongfully in the past, like when they suspended LIRIK’s channel for an alleged copyright infringement he never committed.
