In a statement made on the Supercars site today, Supercars is teaming up with Gfinity and iRacing, an online racing simulation platform, to expand the Eseries. In 2018, Eseries was run on Forza Motorsport 7, but iRacing provides a more realistic platform for drivers.

The Eseries will be streamed for free across both Supercars and Gfinity’s platforms on Facebook, Twitter and Twitch.

Endemic racing outfit Boost Mobile Racing has already confirmed its entry into the series, with 11 more teams expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The competition will start in August and continue through to November for eight rounds, marking the longest Eseries yet.

“The partnership with Gfinity will help engage a new generation of fans and offer a pathway to showcase their skills in our cars against our best teams and drivers,” said Supercars CEO Sean Seamer.

Supercars is Australia’s biggest motorsport series, having run for over 20 years. The crossover between Supercars and Gfinity isn’t the first one attempted in Australia between a traditional sporting association and an esports brand—EA partnered with the A-League to produce the E-League, with all 10 A-League clubs being represented.

Registration for the open qualifiers begins in July.
