With the help of the new crash-report system released with the recent Apex Legends season one update, Respawn Entertainment pushed a patch for PC users today to fix a bug that caused many players’ games to crash.
Earlier in the week, the Wild Frontier patch introduced a method for capturing information after Apex crashes. A report is automatically saved to a user’s “My Documents” folder on their computer, allowing the game’s developer to identify the cause and solution for many of the crashes PC users have been experiencing recently.

With the information regarding the bug and its location handy, Respawn was able to push a new patch to the live servers today—one that introduced a fix for one of the more frequent crashing problems on PC.
The fix likely won’t be an all-encompassing solution for all crashes, since different issues relate to a diversity of causes. Some of the less-common crashes are related in part to out-of-memory issues, however, it’s still unclear whether that’s a fault on Apex’s side of things or if it’s caused by an improperly-configured computer. Likewise, other rarer crashes may have causes that haven’t been identified yet.
Thanks to the new crash-report system, issues will be much easier for Respawn to correct, should one arise. If players continue to run into the same problem, they should submit their apex_crash.txt files to the Apex customer service forums.
