HoYoverse has released the character trailer for Kinich, and it might just be one of the coolest Genshin Impact trailers ever.
While the company is known for incorporating creative themes into their characters, HoYoverse has taken it a step further with Kinich by giving him a retro video game design, complete with pixel art elements and 8-bit graphics in his entire kit.
He also has a companion, named K’uhul Ajaw, also incorporates the same elements, creating a standout visual and thematic character. You can watch the trailer below, which also includes various references to classic arcade games and more:
Kinich hails from the newly introduced Natlan region, which became available in Version 5.0 of the game. His character is a 5-star Dendro Claymore user, and he’s set to become available to pull in the second phase of the 5.0 banner. Even if his gameplay mechanics might not dominate the current meta, I think the appeal of his design alone is enough to catch the attention of many players.
From his 8-bit graphics to his retro-inspired moves, Kinich is easily one of the most unique characters introduced in the game. He brings a refreshing departure from the typical design aesthetics, making him a must-have for players who appreciate novelty and creativity. I think even if Kinich doesn’t fit perfectly into your go-to team comp, his whole theme make him worth pulling for the experience.
