Caesar King and Burnice White are the two S-Rank characters dropping in Zenless Zone Zero version 1.2, set to release on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 (UTC +8).
With both characters bringing unique abilities to the table, let’s see who might be the better pick for your team.
Caesar King
Caesar is an S-Rank Physical Defense unit designed to stay on the field for extended periods as a tank, countering enemy attacks. The leader of the Sons of Calydon faction can Stun and sustain herself, while also providing shields and buffs for every team member.
What I think makes her particularly interesting is that when she gets attacked by an enemy, Caesar activates something called a Perfect Block. Now, this blocks all damage and counterattacks with her shield, also hitting enemies with Physical DMG.
Beyond that, her additional ability called Battle Spirit increases damage dealt to enemies by teammates by 25% for 30 seconds if there’s another character with Defensive Assist or from the same Faction.
All of this should be enough to convince you where I am going with. Caesar can not only tank, shield from damage, and debuff, but also hit hard. Basically, she’s a potentially valuable long-term unit that can fir into many team comps.
Burnice White
Now, Burnice is a Fire Anomaly unit, and she deals both Fire DMG and Physical DMG. She wields a dual flamethrower, using Anomaly Buildup to Burn enemies. Her Special Attacks can inflict massive Fire DMG.
According to the information we have from hakush.in, Burnice’s Core Passive allows her to accumulate Heat and enter the Nitro-Fuel Cocktail state, applying Scorched effects on enemies with all her attacks.
An interesting thing to note here is that even when she’s off the field, she remains effective. If your other characters hit Scorched enemies, they trigger Afterburn.
This makes Burnice a unit that rewards strategic switching of characters. If you have another character with an Anomaly weapon or from the Sons of Calydon faction, Burnice’s attacks and Afterburn triggers will increase Fire Anomaly Buildup by 65%.
So, you can see how Burnice can be quite a powerhouse too, having her own place in your team. However, the question still remains: who to pull?
I think overall, Caesar seems like the go-to choice for most Proxies, given her robust kit that can withstand heavy damage, a great support unit in the fast-paced combat of Zenless Zone Zero. However, if Burnice’s playstyle appeals to you, she’s also a strong contender with her versatile skill set. It ultimately boils down to your choice, but HoYoverse sure has given tough options to choose from in ZZZ 1.2.
