LoL players call for changes to ‘beyond terrible’ skin preview system

Does Riot need to make changes?

League of Legends players have just about had enough of the preview system in the client. For years, players have complained about the client and how it needs to be changed; this is just another day at the office for Riot Games.

The client has had its fair share of problems in the past. Players have called for a change in the system for years but to no avail and only adjustments to the current client. A group of players expressed their frustration on Reddit about a particular part of the client. “The client for league is a fucking pile of shit,” one player said.

Skins have been a major revenue source for League for years, and they’re a huge part of what keeps the game fresh and exciting for players. Unfortunately, players cannot preview the skin they wish to purchase in the client itself, and this is where the frustration has set in for many players.

When you get onto the skins section for a champion, you can scroll through the various skins as it shows both skins you own and ones you don’t. When clicking on a locked skin, the only way to preview the skin is by clicking on the small eye button in the bottom right. Even then, it shows the skins banner and description on full screen. The only way to see what the skin looks like in-game is on skins with chromas, as it shows the character model on Summoner’s Rift.

Unless you visit the Skin Spotlights YouTube channel, there’s no way of previewing what the skin would look like in-game. “It’s like going to the toy store, and the box is covered in paint, and they don’t even have the image of the real product on the box,” the original author of the Reddit post said. One player made a valid point: VALORANT’s system allows players to use locked agents in the practice range.
