What does the Gold Ridge Beast do in Black Myth Wukong?

Something feels off about this.

The Man-in-Stone is one of Black Myth: Wukong’s most curious entities, and after some initial shenanigans, they want to sell you various goods—including the Gold Ridge Beast.

The Gold Ridge Beast seems like a phenomenal, must-own collectible you can keep or trade for something else. It’s one of several Treasures sold by the problematic Man-in-Stone figure, and adding it to the Destined One’s inventory costs a premium in Black Myth: Wukong.

If you’re not too busy looking for the Loong Scales in Wukong or figuring out how to pass through the sand wall, the Gold Ridge Beast is another issue—and you need to know why.

Does the Gold Ridge Beast do anything in Black Myth: Wukong?

It doesn’t look like Black Myth: Wukong’s Gold Ridge Beast does anything, and to the best of our knowledge, it appears to be a scam item flogged by a wheeling, dealing seller.

As you might know, to view the Man-in-Stone’s wares, you needed to help him by defeating the Mother of Stones optional boss. Doing this gifts the individual a treasure he’s after, and we can take the fight to him (turning him into another optional boss) to claim the treasure for ourselves.

He’s unhappy about this, but calms down and becomes a merchant once you return to his location. His inventory is stocked with expensive goods—including the mysterious-looking Gold Ridge Beast for 12,800 Will.

We have spent many hours playing Black Myth: Wukong, and I can tell you (so far) that the Gold Ridge Beast appears to be a sellable treasure and nothing more. This means you’ve paid way over the odds for a treasure you need to sell back to him—or another seller—for far less than you bought it for! We’re just as angry as you, trust us.

Black Myth: Wukong is full of secrets and ambiguous quests, so the Gold Ridge Beast could at least have one functional purpose. Keep checking back as we go to the ends of the Earth to uncover Wukong’s content and perhaps give the Gold Ridge Beast meaning.

Until then, check out where to find and beat the Tiger Vanguard and Wukong’s full trophy list.
