Black Myth Wukong has overcome controversy to live up to its massive hype and smash player count records. The mysteries of Chinese mythology—and Wukong himself—are explored in Black Myth (the first in a new series), and it’s easily one of 2024’s biggest titles.

Unfortunately, if you’re a PC gamer, the ever-looming threat of Denuvo is creeping in to stick its head where it doesn’t belong.

Black Myth Wukong uses Denuvo, which means your purchase of Game Science’s new IP could be subject to performance issues and gameplay disruptions.

For those unaware, Denuvo is anti-piracy software designed to stop people from illegally pirating games and obtaining titles for free. It’s an effective tool that does the job. But it comes at the expense of the game’s performance itself.

Countless videos and reports have shown that PC titles with Denuvo support see significant frame rate drops, crashes, and other technical issues directly caused by the software.

As a result, many PC ports of AAA games are not well optimized, and the same could be true for Black Myth Wukong if you’re purchasing it—so be warned!
