Many people are split on which shotgun is better in Apex Legends. Some players say they prefer the EVA-8 due to its automatic fire capabilities. Other players, however, say that the Peacekeeper is better due to its incredible damage.
Both sides have valid points, but not many players may know ADS actually has zero effect on the pellet spread for both the Peacekeeper and EVA-8. A lot of Apex players have been aiming down sights whenever they use their Peacekeeper and EVA-8, but that fact may change the way they play.
A Redditor made this discovery while playing in the training mode of the game. The video he recorded showed him aiming at the exact same spot on the training target and firing with the Peacekeeper. When he inspected both targets, they had the exact same pellet spread.
Upon further testing, he concluded that the Mozambique and the Mastiff shotguns both gain narrower pellet spread when aiming down sights. This means that aiming down sights is practically useless for two of the most-used shotguns in the game. The only time that you will aim down sights with the Peacekeeper is when you’ve acquired a precision choke, which charges up a single, powerful shot when in ADS.
With this knowledge, people may not find the need to aim down sights with a shotgun anymore. ADS cuts down on a player’s mobility by quite a lot. If someone is able to simply hipfire instead, it is the more efficient method of using the shotguns during close-quarter combat. It could even be the difference between winning and losing a firefight.
