LCS offers super fans ‘exclusive’ experience for subbing on Twitch—including Pro View comeback

Will you be subbing to the LCS Twitch channel?

The LCS is introducing subscriptions to its Twitch channel, integrating fans deeper into the league’s ecosystem. Along with these is the return of a removed Riot Games feature, Pro View, and the standard Twitch goodies.

On Aug. 15, Riot released an announcement on the LCS X account about the new LCS Twitch subscriptions. This month-long test will coincide with the LCS Summer Split playoffs to enhance the League of Legends esports experience.

The Twitch subscriptions will offer rewards and experiences during and outside the broadcast. During the broadcast, subscribers can watch the LCS ad-free, cutting the standard Twitch ads that would run between games. Fans will also receive custom LCS badges and chat emotes.

According to the announcement, the LCS is looking to offer increased interaction between the Twitch chat and the broadcast. Casters have frequently looked at the chat during the broadcast to gauge what the fans are saying. With the new Twitch subs, those who have subbed will have a higher priority in the fan polls and a higher chance of being recognized on-air. Subbing to the Twitch account will also grant you the “Brain Off” League emote that will be redeemable in-game.

Outside of the broadcast, LCS Twitch subs can vote for which pro view VODs they want to see after each series. Riot will update these VODs to the new sub-only Discord. This Discord will be the new hub for Twitch subs. Fans can hang out, talk to LCS talent, participate in special commissioner AMAs, and more.

The return of the pro view will be an opener for many LCS fans thinking about subbing. The feature was retired from Riot in 2022 after less than desirable fan interest for it to be a standalone subscription service. The LCS Summer Split playoffs kick off Saturday, Aug. 17, with Dignitas taking on 100 Thieves.
