Splitgate 2 release countdown: Expected start date and release window

Wish we could just portal straight to the big day.

Portal-fuelled arena shooter Splitgate is coming back with a bang, with 1047 Games hard at work on long-hyped sequel-cross-upgrade Splitgate 2.

The portal shooter’s sequel will change the game when it arrives too, with everything from new maps and battlefields to class-based warfare coming to the futuristic FPS. The developers have been hard at work building this next evolution and upgrading everything since the original Splitgate hype three years ago.

Don’t jump through any portals just yet though—here’s when Splitgate 2 will launch.

Does Splitgate 2 have a release date yet?

At the time of writing, 1047 Games has only confirmed that Splitgate 2 will be launching sometime in 2025, with no exact date locked in yet.

Dot Esports expects things to kick off for the Splitgate sequel earlier rather than later; one gameplay trailer has already been released—and it looked like the arena shooter’s in for a huge upgrade—and players will get a chance to play a demo version at Gamescom 2024, so development seems to be quite far along.

Play Splitgate 2 at Gamescom

Things could be different this time around, but the original Splitgate ran a limited-space beta playtest in May 2021 before it went live for players everywhere six weeks later in July 2021. That could be the same playbook dates-wise 1047 run out this time.

For now, it’s a waiting game. We should see an alpha/beta run, then the full game soon after. Dot Esports will update this article when we have more info.
