It’s finally time to return to the Lands Between. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the highly anticipated DLC for one of 2022’s greatest games, had its release date confirmed.
A new gameplay trailer today showed off a slew of new locations, enemies, weapons, and abilities, confirmed the DLC will be coming to all platforms later this year on June 21.
The trailer features an incredible soundtrack, as is always the case with From Software games, along with teases of several incredible-looking boss fights with god-like creatures, horrific monsters, new NPCs, and completely new environments.
It seems as though Shadow of the Erdtree will center around Miquella, the brother of Malenia, who was cursed to be forever young. It’s expected that the Shadow of the Erdtree story will dive deeper into Miquella’s lore.
Miquella was seen briefly in Elden Ring during the boss fight with Mohg, Lord of Blood, as shown in the very beginning of the new trailer, which makes the DLC look like it could very well be the length and size of an entire new game.
The end of the trailer also confirmed a Collector’s Edition for the DLC, including a 40-page hardcover artbook, official soundtrack, and an 18″ statue of a new character named Messmer the Impaler, who looks to be a central character and boss fight in the expansion.
For those who haven’t played Elden Ring, there’s no better time than now. With four months until Shadow of the Erdtree’s release, that should (maybe) leave enough time to explore all that the Lands Between have to offer before the DLC is made available.
The DLC is priced at $39.99, but a $49.99 digital Premium edition also includes a digital artbook and soundtrack. It can be pre-ordered starting today.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree releases on June 21, but could be available on Steam as early as the evening of June 20 in the U.S. if it follows the release of the original game.
