MIBR GC knock title-favorite G2 Gozen out of VCT Game Changers Championship 2025 after epic OT comeback

The 2025 VCT Game Changers Championship has just witnessed a major upset, with MIBR GC ousting G2 Gozen from the tournament in an intense lower bracket series.

The Nov. 27 VALORANT matchup featured not one, but two overtimes and plenty of back-and-forth action, including dominant multi-kill rounds and impressive strategic battles from both sides. Despite G2 Gozen’s fan backing and history of international success, MIBR GC held their ground and emerged victorious. Here’s a rundown of the action-packed match.

The series began on Bind, MIBR GC’s map pick. As expected from their Yoru–Raze composition and aggressive mentality, MIBR GC took a commanding 8–4 lead in the first half. However, G2 wasn’t one to back down, even with a 4–10 scoreline in MIBR’s favor. When the sides flipped, G2—with their annoying Waylay and double initiator composition—came back with a fitting reply, winning eight rounds in a row and even taking the lead at 12–10. But that’s exactly when MIBR woke up, pushed the map to overtime, and eventually won it 14–12.

Then it was time for G2’s map pick—Sunset—and it was an absolute masterclass from the EMEA favorites. With the classic Chamber–Sage sentinel combo on their side, G2 took a dominating 10–2 lead on defense. MIBR struggled to break through G2’s utility setups throughout the game and couldn’t mount a comeback after the side switch either. The map ended 13–5, with G2’s Aleyna ‘Vania’ Keskin pulling off a marvelous ace.

The decider map had everything a VALORANT fan could want from an esports match: drama, competition, clutches, whiffs, WTFs, and everything in between. It began with G2 taking a statement 10–2 lead, giving fans déjà vu. I mean, who would have thought G2 would fumble this? Well, not me.

When the sides flipped, we saw a renewed MIBR GC, determined to hold on to their only lifeline at the VCT Game Changers Championship 2025. Their comeback was one to remember, full of firepower and resilience. G2 had every advantage—they even reached map point at 12–8 with Akita’s Showstopper 3K round. But nothing was enough to stop Paula “bstrdd” Naguil, Giulia “lissA” Lissa, and Nicolas “srN” Niederauer, who were fully locked in to make the seemingly impossible comeback happen.

MIBR capitalized hard on G2’s fumbles, first to tie the score at 12–12 and then to win the first two overtime rounds to take the series. Turns out, the déjà vu wasn’t from Sunset at all—it was from Bind all along.

G2 Gozen are now out of the VALORANT Game Changers Championship 2025 in sixth place. This marks the first time since the circuit began that the EMEA roster has failed to finish in the top three.
