How to find Fairfield bounty terminal and complete Diabolical Drones quest in The Outer Worlds 2

When you first enter Fairfield in The Outer Worlds 2, you will notice an NPC named Trooper Coetze standing guard at the entrance. Talk to her, and she will tell you about this drone problem, for which there is a bounty to complete. Doing so will trigger a side quest, “Diabolical Drones of Doom.”

All you have to do is clear out the drone problem and collect the reward from the Fairfield bounty terminal. Seems easy, right? Except it isn’t. When you go to your quest log, you’ll notice it’s one of the ‘Mentioned’ quests with no in-game coordinates to guide you to the next objective. 

As such, this guide explains how to find the Fairfield bounty terminal and how to complete the Diabolical Drones of Doom side quest in The Outer Worlds 2.

Fairfield bounty terminal location in The Outer Worlds 2

You can find the bounty terminal in Fairfield, located outside the Sheriff’s station. There are two terminals outside this place, and the one you’re looking for is on the left of its entrance, next to Huell Chaudry, who gives you the quest for the Plasma Thrusters.

​Interact with the bounty terminal and look up local bounties. Here, you will find the Drone Swarm bounty. Click on it to properly start this quest, which will then mark the bounty’s location on your map. From here on, it’s pretty straightforward.

How to complete the Diabolical Drones of Doom quest

You can find the drones on the eastern side of Paradise Island, inside a power station. It’s not far from the Ministry of Accuracy, where you first find Inez. There are over a dozen drones in here, though it shouldn’t take very long to slay them all with the right weapon.

​These are weak to electric damage, so we recommend using the Shock Machine Gun, which you can find in the armory, to eliminate them quickly. With its whopping 100 magazine size, you should be able to take them all out without any hassle.

​If you’re doing a pacifist playthrough, you can also disable all the drones at the gate, granted you have invested two points in Engineering or have the perks Electro-Therapist or Manual Reset.

​Once you have eliminated all the drones in the area, head back to the bounty terminal in Fairfield to complete the quest and reap its rewards. Finishing the Diabloical Drones quest will grant you an Advanced Decryption Key and 350 Bit Cartridges.
