Luminosity drops two players from original team after picking up new roster
After picking up Hammers Esports—the top performing Overwatch team in the Overwatch Carbon Series—Luminosity Gaming is looking to clean up its original roster.
Vytis "Mineral" Lasaitis and Arthur "EISSFELDT" Marx are the first to go from the LG Loyal lineup, leaving flex player Alexandre "SPREE" Vanhomwegen, tank player Bastien "SuperPlouk" Klau, DPS player Toni "Ube" Häkli, and support player Mikaël "Hidan" Da Silva to hold down the roster themselves. Without Mineral and EISSFELDT, LG Loyal began trying out new Overwatch players immediately.
Since LG Loyal's third-place finish in the Overwatch Winter Premiere, the team has struggled to perform, particularly in the Overwatch Carbon Series.
"Unfortunately, despite having sufficient talent, we simply couldn't gel in game," Mineral said in a Twitlonger post. "Issues weren't being resolved, and any time a professional team with as much talent starts regressing heavily, it's only reasonable to explore changes in an attempt to salvage the situation. No one was happy, and the unanimous consensus within the team was that changes had to be made, one way or another."
That's why Mineral departed the team, with EISSFEDLT alongside him, Luminosity confirmed on Twitter.
Jeremy "Hqrdest" Danton and Brit Marcus "Realzx" Wining took the open slots available on the team so far during the Overwatch Carbon Series, but it's just a trial period for now. LG Loyal is likely hoping to match LG Evil's success as the tournament continues.
LG Evil is currently undefeated in the Overwatch Carbon Series. Tournament play for LG Evil begins again tonight. On March 14, LG Evil and LG Loyal will go head-to-head.
