Wang “TiddlerCelestial” Xieyu, the runner up in the inaugural Hearthstone World Championships, is forming his own team. In addition to Wang, the team features Taiwan’s Chu “FrozenIce” Shih Kuang, who also competed in the World Championships last year, as well as ESL Legendary Series S1 winner Austin “SilentStorm” Li, who had been teamless since the quiet disbanding of Team Magicamy, and is the lone team member from outside of Asia.
Wang had had been released from Vici Gaming, along with the rest of the roster, following a disappointing NEL Autumn season.
Zhen “Sinn” Tan, the organiser behind the NEL League, will serve as the team’s manager. Ding Zhang and Huiwen “Yavis” Yuan will also be on the team primarily as streamers.
“For the longest time,” the team said in a statement. “the Eastern scene has been shrouded in mystery, many would even say under-performing in comparison to its Western counterpart in the Hearthstone industry worldwide. Today we are willing to show the world that it is not true.”
The team said it plans to host a tournament in the near future alongside Blizzard China and NetEase.
