Sims fans are in for a real treat this fall. Three years after the game’s release, The Sims 4 is finally getting cats and dogs in an upcoming expansion pack that features some of the most realistic pets in the series to date.
EA announced The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs at Gamescom on Monday during an official trailer showcasing the expansion’s gameplay. Players can create a dog or cat through the “Create A Pet” tool, which lets users customize their pets’ breed, age, and personality traits. This means that players can create a diverse mix of pets with their own moods, behaviors, and preferences.
Pets can interact with each other, too, and Sims can take their animals on runs, let them swim in pools, or drag them outside to the park. And if that isn’t enough, players can even dress their pets in clothes.
Maxis also plans to introduce the veterinarian career path, where Sims can heal sick pets throughout their town. Players can also take their pets to the vet to heal their cats and dogs. And the expansion pack features a new location named Brindleton Bay where Sims can play games with their pets.
“The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs offers fans some of the cutest, most charming pets ever seen in The Sims,” executive producer Lyndsay Pearson said, according to DualShockers. “From dogs and cats to puppies and kittens, the new tools for customizing pets are so flexible and powerful, players can really create anything they can imagine.”
The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs is scheduled to launch on Nov. 10 for Mac and PC. The expansion is planned for a week before the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 receive The Sims 4 on Nov. 17, but it remains unclear if console owners will receive the expansion pack as well.
