Europe is getting a special Pikachu Nintendo 2DS XL

The console was recently a Japanese exclusive.

To celebrate the release of Pokémon Crystal for the Nintendo 3DS eshop, Nintendo of Europe are releasing a brand new Pikachu Edition of the Nintendo 2DS XL.

The 2DS XL was originally only released in Japan to coincide with the release of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon alongside the Pokéball 2DS XL that was released worldwide.

The Pikachu 2DX XL in one of the only consoles to have a bump in the cover, giving the console a 3D effect, and making it look like Pikachu's snout is coming out at you. It is one of multiple Pikachu themed consoles that have been released over the years by Nintendo.

The first Pikachu themed console the company released was the special edition Pikachu Nintendo 64 consoles back in the 1990's. There was also a special Pikachu themed GameBoy that launched alongside Pokémon Gold and Silver.

The Pikachu 2DS XL will launch Jan. 26, 2018 for a RRP of £140/140 euros.
