Okami HD Remaster coming for PS4 and Xbox One
Capcom has confirmed Okami HD for PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
Kotaku broke the news earlier today that the 2006 cel-shaded Playstation 2 game is making its way to current generation consoles. That's got to be disappointing to Nintendo Switch owners, who were surely hoping that the game would come to the system—especially considering the original game was released on the Wii in 2008.
Capcom confirmed to Eurogamer that Okami HD will launch in Japan over the holiday period, which means a Western release should follow. A huge feature to note is that the game will support 4K and, if you want to, you can play the game in its original 4:3 resolution.
Okami was remastered for PS3 recently. Its combination of stunning visuals and a sprawling adventure earned it sparkling praise from video game websites (IGN gave it a 9.4 and it’s Metacritic score is currently standing at a solid 90) so it will be curious to see the overall reaction to it returning again to the current consoles. W
ill it be a case of overstaying a welcome and gamers suffering from remaster-nausea or will Okami HD be celebrated in the same way that every Skyrim remaster/rework has been? We’ll find out when the adventure lands on Playstation 4 and Xbox One this holiday.
