Achievements could be coming to the Nintendo Switch
An Indie developer for an upcoming Nintendo Switch game may have accidently spilled the beans about a certain system in the console’s future.
During an AMA (ask me anything) post on the Nintendo Switch Reddit page, Tom Tomaszewski from Crunching Koalas, the publisher behind the Indie title Lichtspeer, said that Nintendo is working on it's own version of an achievements system.
An achievement is a goal that developers and publishers set within their game for players to reach. By reaching this goal or objective, players will be rewarded with an achievement on their console's profile.
An achievement system would be a welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch, giving players more incentive to go the extra mile in a game. Can you imagine having an achievement for 100 percent completing Zelda: Breath of the Wild?
Basically, it's just going to let players show off a lot more.
In 2013, Microsoft awarded its then highest achievement holder with a lifetime Xbox Gold membership. It just goes to show that some companies will reward you for sinking so many countless hours into video games—sometimes.
