There could be some big news for Final Fantasy fans when 2018 rolls around, if comments from Final Fantasy brand manager Shinji Hashimoto prove true. During an interview on the Edamame Arcade Channel on YouTube regarding the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game, Hashimoto made some comments that should prove interesting for series fans.
“There aren’t that many things that go for 30 years,” he said. “With the support of the fans of Final Fantasy, next year will be the 31st year, and our teams are busy working on new titles. They are all gearing up for a big year next year. Next year is going to be a big year.”
He wasn’t keen on giving additional information about what kind of games could be on the horizon, nor which characters and franchises they may feature,
“First, I want to thank the fans for 30 years of support. Next year will be a big one, and we will bring exciting new Final Fantasy games to the world. Thanks for all your support!”
We obviously already know the Final Fantasy VII Remake is on the horizon, so this shouldn’t include that project, so what else could be coming that we haven’t yet heard about? Hopefully we’ll see some more loving HD remasters or localizations we haven’t yet seen. Whatever the case may be, 2018 should prove an interesting year for the series.
