Na'Vi completes new Dota 2 roster
The three-time International finalists have completed their new roster as they prepare to make a run back to the peak of professional Dota 2.
Natus Vincere announced today that they have filled out their roster with the addition of two new players: Artem “Fng” Barshak of Belarus and Ivan “Vanskor” Skorokhod of Russia.
The acquisition of Barshak is an especially important one for Natus Vincere, as Barshak will immediately take over as the team’s captain. Barshak’s strategies will go a long way in shaping the future of the new Natus Vincere roster and determining whether or not they’ll be able to qualify for a fourth International final in the future.
Barshak expressed confidence in the move in a statement released by the team.
“I hope I won’t disappoint people that believe in me,” Barshak said. “I do not know what lies ahead of me, but this is the path I chose.”
Skorokhod comes from a strong playing background that includes a stint with Team Empire, one of Europe’s best Dota 2 sides. Like Barshak, Skorokhod expressed confidence in his place with the team and was hopeful for their future performance.
“It (is) a great responsibility I undertake to perform at the best level,” Skorokhod said. “I hope we’ll do our best as a new squad.”
The pair replace the departing Clement “Puppy” Ivanov and Kuro “Kuroky” Salehi Takhasomi. The departure of Ivanov in particular indicated a potential new direction for Natus Vincere, something now confirmed with the introduction of Barshak as the team’s new captain.
The move is only the latest in the flurry of roster activity that has followed The International 4. Unrest among the world’s best teams has been so great that the upcoming World Esports Championships event decided to cancel its North American and European qualifiers, instead offering direct invitations to the best teams in those regions to ensure that they could participate in spite of ongoing roster flux.
