Middle-earth: Shadow of War executive producer Mike "Forthog" Forgey was beloved by his fellow developers at Monolith. But Forgey passed away after a battle with cancer during the game's development. So in remembrance of his legacy, the Shadow of War team has created a DLC character based on Forgey for the game: Forthog Orcslayer.

The DLC is simple enough. Forthog will pop up in the battlefield randomly, attacking enemies and then quickly leaving when the player is in trouble. The idea was inspired in part by Forgey's personality. Studio head Kevin Stephens described Forgey as a developer who would help others out when in need during development.

"The idea of him jumping in to save the day is something we wanted to capture," Stephens said in a video behind the DLC. "Forthog Orcslayer is basically a savior that's just in the world, and if you have this DLC, randomly—it doesn't always happen—but randomly he can jump in and save you when you most need it. That really represents Michael's personality."

For every Forthog Orcslayer DLC purchase, WB Games will donate $3.50 to Forgey's family, up to Dec. 31, 2019. Exceptions apply for several states, however, for those living in Alabama, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, and South Carolina.

Forthog Orcslayer goes live alongside Middle-earth: Shadow of War on Oct. 10. He goes on sale for $4.99.
