It’s happening! Cole Phelps’ dark and seedy crime story, LA Noire, is getting a remaster. The 1940’s detective game that took facial animation to new heights when it was originally released is getting a complete overhaul for the current console generation with numerous new features.

It’s not just consoles that are getting in on the action. Rockstar is also bringing the game to the HTC Vive with VR Case files:

“L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for HTC Vive delivers seven of the original engrossing, self-contained cases from L.A. Noire rebuilt specifically for virtual reality, blending breathtaking action with true detective work to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience.”

PS4 and Xbox One owners are getting the the complete original game and DLC—but with a range of technical enhancements that include “greater visual fidelity and authenticity, enhanced lighting and stunning 4K for Playstation 4 Pro and Xbox One X”. This is going to be one beautiful looking game on those consoles and also, as well as a chance for those who missed playing the game when it was first released.

The real talking point though is that the game is coming to Switch with console specific enhancements including gesture-based controls, contextual touch screen, and new camera angles.

The best part of this news is that Rockstar Games is taking the Nintendo Switch seriously. Could we be seeing other Rockstar franchises on the console? I would pay top dollar for a Bully port.
