FORG1VEN Announces Military Obligations
Instead of the routine dialogue that everyone was expecting, the 23-year-old from Greece delivered an emotional interview, during which he stated that he received a letter before the match telling him that he was being called into active duty for the Greek military in March.
FORG1VEN also stated that service time is for a nine month duration, which means that he would be unable to play in the 2016 EU LCS Spring Playoffs, the 2016 EU LCS Summer Split and the 2016 World Championships.
H2k immediately shared their support for their star player, stating that “we will do everything in our power to help and support FORG1VEN at this time.” This situation is similar to what H2k was going through in the beginning of the season when Mid-Laner Yoo “Ryu” Sang-ook was unable to play for the team due to work visa issues.
H2k did everything in their power then to get Ryu back on the team, as he returned to action last week, so it’s safe to say that H2k really will do all they can to help FORG1VEN through this difficult and unfortunate situation.
After today’s matches, H2k has a 10-3 record and is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the EU LCS. You can read FORG1VEN's official statement on his Facebook page here. Stay tuned to @eSportsNation for more information on this developing situation.
What do you think the loss of FORG1VEN would mean to H2k-Gaming? If he is unable to play the rest of the season, do you think H2k still has a chance to win it all? Let us know by commenting below or tweeting us @eSportsNation.
