HUD changes, new maps and other upgrades coming to Destiny 2's Crucible mode
As the race towards the Destiny 2 beta's launch on July 18 launch continues, more information is being released by developer Bungie about what to expect from the highly anticipated sequel.
A tweet by Bungie showed a video of some changes coming to the Crucible (PvP) mode's heads-up display, and they also revealed two new maps to IGN.
The first and most noticeable change to the HUD in the Crucible is at the top of the screen, where you can track everybody's super abilities and their charges. Each player's super is denoted with the subclass's super logo inside of a box that fills up when it's fully charged. This will undoubtedly come in handy in the heat of the battle.
Up next is on the top left of the screen under the player's radar, there will be predetermined map call outs. As you move around each map the call out will change, so you will be able to communicate to your team where the action is swiftly. Given enough time, players will get down call outs for every map.
The last change noted is when a player picks up Power ammo, it will pop up in the kill feed on the bottom left. It will say which player picked up the ammo, what kind of Power weapon they loaded it into, and the call out of the location of where the ammo was collected.
Bungie also revealed two new Crucible maps coming to Destiny 2 to IGN. The first map, Endless Vale, takes place on the brand new location of Nessus. Bungie environment artist Coolie Calihan explains the map in a full walkthrough. Endless Vale will be available in the game's beta next week.
The second map is Vostok, and it should look immediately familiar to players of Destiny: Rise of Iron. Vostok is set just a few feet away from the Iron Temple social space from Destiny's final expansion, and it's the only returning location in the game so far, according to Bungie environment artist Jeff Horal.
With less than a week until the beta Destiny 2 fans are more excited than ever, and these videos will only serve to elevate the hype heading into one of 2017's biggest game releases.
