Bungie's Destiny 2 developers are at gamescom this week, showing off the title off one last time before it's released into the wild on Sept. 6—and one of the developers briefly convinced the community that a big change was coming. It isn't.

We've known for a while now that some activities in Destiny 2 would lock your loadout to ramp up the difficulty.

Destiny 2 gameplay lead Justin Truman spoke to PCGamesN at gamescom, and said that the pinnacle of the game's most difficult activities would feature this new locked loadout mechanic.

"When the activity starts, your loadouts are restricted for the duration of that activity," said Truman. "An example is the Hard Mode Raid, where we wanna make it really about the tactical decision-making of: 'what do I want to bring in to maximize my ability to play this strike with these modifiers on?' You have to make those decisions up front, because we then lock your ability to change your loadout for the duration."

In response to the earlier report, Destiny 2 game director Luke Smith has tweeted out a correction that Raids in the game will not have locked loadouts after all.
