My XMG returns to 'Counter-Strike'
Earlier in the month, My XMG released the players remaining on their British Counter-Strike roster so that the team could pursue other local opportunities. It didn’t take long for the group’s management to find a new side to support.
Danish team New Style had disappointed in April’s Copenhagen Games, failing to emerge from the group stage to join the top 30 teams in the event’s playoff round. But more recent results have been promising, headlined by a second place finish in a Gaming.dk League final that included wins over top Danish sides Reason and Tricked.
According to New Style’s Thomas “Haste” Dyrensborg, that result was enough to drum up interest in the team from multiple sources. The discussions that followed led the team to conclude that My XMG provided the best fit moving forward.
“We have chosen a partnership with My XMG because they could offer us what we needed and because they have a secure base and a firm management,” Dyrensborg said in a statement.
The team was still in need of an in-game leader, however. So they brought in Nicolai “Hunden” Petersen of the Tricked squad they'd recently defeated.
“We needed a guy with a lot of experience and knowledge so Petersen was a perfect choice for us,” Dyrensborg said.
Dyrensborg also indicated a desire to buck the recent trend of rapid player movements among the top Danish sides. “I am quite sure that we have found the right home.”
