Up-and-coming American HoTS team gets a shot at MGA 2015
A lineup change for the biggest Heroes of the Storm tournament to date has opened the door for one of America's top up-and-coming teams.
With China's EDward Gaming no longer able to compete at the Masters Gaming Arena 2015 next weekend, Cognitive Gaming have been invited to take their spot. According to tournament organisers MSI, the Chinese side encountered issues with their visa applications.
Cognitive Gaming have enjoyed a swift rise to prominence since their formation in May, establishing themselves as a consensus top three team in North America. The team recently qualified for the Americas Regional Championship, meaning they are just one step away from the inaugural Heroes World Championship in November.
With Tempo Storm seemingly untouchable as the top team in the region, Cognitive and fellow top team Cloud9 have formed an alliance of sorts to try and catch up to Tempo Storm. The two teams will take part in a show match later today before travelling to California to bootcamp together ahead of the MGA tournament at PAX Prime.
Fans are salivating at the prospect of seeing the top teams from each region compete against each other for the first time at MGA. As well as the three top American teams Europe's Liquid and Virtus Pro, MVP Black of Korea, eStar Gaming of China and Singapore's myRevenge complete the lineup of teams vying for $50,000.
