MrBeast and Ludwig defend QT Cinderella after Streamer Awards hate train

It's a mess.

After attracting extensive backlash from fans and some creators following the The Streamer Awards 2025 nominations, QT Cinderella has finally gained strong support from members of the creator community acknowledging her hard work and dedication to the annual event.

Pushing back against speculation that the nomination system is rigged, Ludwig Ahgren publicly praised the “time, effort, and passion” QT invests into the Streamer Awards every year. “Every year I see first-hand how much time, effort, and passion QT devotes to the Streamer Awards… and every year she gets shit from every corner of the internet that feels they deserve more,” he wrote in an X post.

Ludwig also encouraged like-minded fans to speak up: “I know it’s not possible to please everyone—but if you’re like me and inspired by the work she puts in and think it makes streaming a better space, don’t be afraid to be more vocal about it.”

It wasn’t just Ludwig speaking in her defense. MrBeast joined the discussion in the post’s comments, noting that YouTube Rewind dealt with similar criticism. “Everyone thinks the creators they watch are what everyone watches. Truth is, online content is made up of hundreds of massive pockets of fandom,” he wrote.

MrBeast also offered an apt example to explain the uproar: “The largest creator in Mexico you might have never seen as an American English viewer, but to Spanish people they see them 100x a week and can’t comprehend that they aren’t theoretically the biggest. Same applies to the bubble of games you watch, the type of content you watch, etc.”

The backlash against QT Cinderella began when the nominees for the Streamer Awards 2025 were announced on Nov. 16. According to the official system, nominees are determined by a combination of public fan votes (70 percent) and a panelist vote (30 percent).

However, fans pointed out that some of their favorite, often controversial creators didn’t make the cut, while QT’s “friends” with seemingly modest achievements did. Additionally, no Kick creators were nominated. Adding to the controversy, top streamers such as Asmongold and xQc strongly suggested the system was biased, with Asmongold even offering to pay $100,000 if she could prove otherwise.

QT handled much of the criticism gracefully, but eventually broke down during a live stream. “It’s just so frustrating. I’m doing my f***ing best over here. I’m just so tired. I’m tired of crying,” she said.

Several other notable creators, including Agent and Adin Ross, have since come to her defense. Interestingly, Ross initially accused her of running a rigged show but changed his stance during a recent live stream. “I do feel bad for QTCinderella though, I ain’t gonna lie… The reason I feel so bad for QTCinderella is because she’s getting pressure from her sponsors to choose pre-selected people,” he told viewers. He also withdrew his plan to co-host a Kick version of the Streamer Awards alongside Asmongold, citing funding issues.

While concerns about the show are valid, spreading unreasonable hate toward QT Cinderella based on unverified claims seems unfair. At the end of the day, it’s the only awards show we have that honors streamers the way they deserve. Criticizing a show for proven flaws is acceptable—but one shouldn’t forget kindness in the process.

As far as the nominations are concerned, you can vote for your favorite streamers in the Streamer Awards 2025 till Nov. 29 (Nov. 30, GMT+8).
