Overwatch is changing. Symmetra’s no longer a support hero. Sombra can be invisible forever. A hamster could be joining the game.
Those aren’t the only things evolving in Overwatch, though. Torbjörn is being worked on by Blizzard, too—but Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan didn’t have any details to share on Torbjörn’s adjustments. “We don’t have details but it is one of the things that’s actively being worked on,” Kaplan said. “We’ve tried dozens of new abilities and tweaks to the turrets and his gun so far.”

Nothing has stuck, but the team has some leads, Kaplan said.
Kaplan added that Torbjörn is in a “state of flux” and “changing rapidly day-to-day.” He expects to share some details when the iterations start slowing down. Blizzard announced in late April that Torbjörn would eventually get a rework, but noted then that it’s still a ways away. Symmetra was the first priority, but now that she’s live, the team has time to work on Torbjörn.
“It’s not an explicit goal to be constantly reworking older heroes to keep up with the current game, but sometimes when we look at these heroes we can see that they would fit much better into the current game with more significant gameplay changes, rather than just balance tweaks,” Overwatch developer Geoff Goodman told PCGamesN in April.
There’s no timing details for more hints on Torbjörn’s rework. We’ll just have to wait—but at least there’s a lot to play with in the meantime.
