The top-tier Chinese team announced Nov. 28 that they would take a break from Overwatch following the Nexus Cup. But after falling to the tournament’s lower bracket, MY has decided to disband immediately, the team announced on Chinese social media site Weibo.

“We extend our most sincere apologies to you all,” MY wrote. “Thank you for your support and attention all the way. Hopefully everyone will understand and continue to support our players.”

A few MY Overwatch players will transfer to other Overwatch teams, according to the announcement.

After placing third in the Nexus Cup’s group D, MY was scheduled to play Lucky Future on Dec. 7. Lucky Future will automatically move on to the next round in the lower bracket. The Nexus Cup is ongoing until Dec. 17, with Lunatic-Hai, RunAway, X6-Gaming, Seven, Foxes, Element Mystic, KongDoo Panthera, and Meta Athena in the winner’s bracket.

MY was once one of China’s premier Overwatch teams, placing first in a number of minor tournaments, as well as the Summer 2017 Nexus Cup and the Overwatch Premier Series grand finals. Most recently, the Chinese team placed third-fourth at the APAC Premier, beating out a number of international rosters.

Losing a team of MY’s quality is a blow to the Chinese Overwatch community.
