If you’re not a fan of the default third-person mode that comes with Overwatch 2’s Stadium mode, you can change it to the more realistic first-person perspective by tinkering with just one setting.
The Overwatch franchise has been known for its iconic multiplayer hero shooter experience in first-person for as long as it has existed. So, you’re certainly not the only one uncomfortable with looking at your favorite heroes from behind their heads—Most veterans are. Thankfully, you can switch to a view you’re more accustomed to anytime.
Here’s how to play Overwatch 2 Stadium in first person.
How to go first person in Overwatch 2 Stadium

Whether you’re looking to switch from first person to third person or vice versa in Overwatch 2 Stadium, here’s how you can do it:
- Launch Overwatch 2.
- Bring out the settings menu and select Options.
- Next, go to the Controls tab.
- On the left side of the screen, select Stadium.
- Select Camera Perspective and then select First Person from the dropdown.
- You can change view perspectives from the lobby screen or in between matches.
That’s it. You can now load into a Stadium game in Overwatch 2 and play it in first-person. But make sure you know what you’re losing with this decision.
Is first-person better than third-person in Overwatch 2 Stadium?
While many of us may find it easier to aim in first person and would want the original Overwatch experience in Stadium mode, third person gives you a major advantage in gathering information. You can view more of your surroundings and spot your enemies more easily with the camera behind you. These are crucial reasons why you may want to stick to Blizzard’s original idea for Overwatch 2 Stadium.
The lobbies aren’t separate for first- and third-person players, so other players in your match can still choose to be in third-person and take advantage of your limitations.
If you want to try third person in Overwatch 2 Stadium for certain heroes only, you can use the Change Hero option beside the Stadium Camera settings section. Simply choose a hero from the list and change the camera perspective according to your requirement.
You can also make your experience slightly more comfortable by tinkering with the extra options offered by the Stadium Camera settings. Here’s what you can do:
- Increase or decrease the field of view while in third person.
- Choose to look from the left or right shoulder.
- Get a blocked shot indicator for when your aim is blocked by an environmental feature.
At the end of the day, Overwatch 2 Stadium is meant to be played in third person. If you choose to go rogue and pick first person, make sure you’re ready for the chaos.
