Gods Joins Cloud9 Right Before APEX Season 2

Cloud9 has made a change to their starting Overwatch roster days before APEX Season 2 is set to begin.

Cloud9 announced that they will be making a change to their Overwatch team ahead of OGN Overwatch APEX Season 2. The team will bring in Daniel “Gods” Graseser, who previously played for NRG and Luminosity Gaming, to replace Kyle “KyKy” Souder, with the former stepping down from the starting roster but not leaving the organization as of yet. Instead of directly taking over for KyKy, Gods will be playing as a Flex player along with Lucas “Mendokusaii” Håkansson and Lane “Surefour” Roberts. According to the Cloud9 post, Gods is excited to join the team and hopes to prove himself in Korea.

Cloud9 claims that they are making this move to deal with the shift in the meta of Overwatch. They believe that with the new patch coming out, they need more players that have a deep and diverse champion pool. Cloud9 is placed into a tough group for APEX Season 2, as they will battle alongside CONBOX Spirit, KongDoo Uncia, and Afreeca Freecs Blue. APEX will be the first tournament since MLG Vegas that Cloud9 will be competing in. With the announcement coming so close to when APEX Season 2 begins, it remains to be seen how much practice Cloud9 has had with their new player.
