Doomfist's most controversial skin gets a name change
Blizzard made a horrible, terrible mistake in the naming one of its new Doomfist skins in Overwatch.
Doomfist's animal print skin—once called Cheetah—was misnamed upon initial release. The spots that Doomfist dons are actually leopard print, not cheetah print. Cheetahs just have black dots, while leopards wear a more intricate dot pattern. Many Overwatch players took to the game's forum to express their disappointment in the developer. Overwatch was simply unplayable.
"I just can't play under these conditions," IIICorvus wrote. "It's too much. I believe in you, Blizzard, but it's like I don't even know you anymore."
Just as we were all collectively ready to uninstall our games, Overwatch lead writer Michael Chu stepped in to ask for forgiveness. "But he's got the fist that goes crunch," he wrote, referencing a Cheetos slogan. "Please forgive us." Blizzard then issued an extremely important patch, fixing their damaging mistake. Doomfist's Cheetah skin is no longer called Cheetah—now, it's Leopard, and everything is right in the world.
We'd like to thank Blizzard for taking swift action in correcting this issue.
