Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a game packed to the brim with different items.
Sometimes, however, you might pick up an item by mistake and feel like you are stuck with it for the remainder of the match. Have no fear though, there’s a way to drop said item if that happens.
Every item has its uses. Some can be thrown by pressing the attack button while others remain attached to your character until you choose to get rid of them.
If you’ve expended all of the item(s) use, then you can drop it by pressing the grab button (usually the R or Z button on a GameCube controller unless you changed the default controls).
Alternatively, you can also throw the item at an opponent to deal some extra damage by pressing the throw button at the same time as a directional input. If the item hits, it could even create a KO opportunity if it was an explosive item.
After you get rid of the item, you’ll be free to use your basic attacks again and get back into the fight.
