How to fix Marvel Rivals disk write error
The disk write error usually pops up when the download you initiated via Steam is corrupted and can’t be “written on the disk” for you to successfully access it. Many Marvel Rivals players face it when they exit the game and hit the Install button on an available update immediately after.
Try the following fixes if you can’t download the new Marvel Rivals update because of this issue.
Verify game files
Here’s how to verify Marvel Rivals game files via Steam:
- Open your Steam library and open the Marvel Rivals page.
- Click on the cog icon on the right side of the page to open Settings and then select Properties.
- On the left, click on the Installed Files tab and then click on the Verify integrity of game files button on the right.
- Allow the process to complete. Exit Steam and relaunch it.
- Go to the Marvel Rivals library page and check if you can download the update.

Run Steam as administrator
Open the Task Manager, find Steam on the list of running programs, right-click and select Exit. Now, right click on the Steam app on your desktop or the executable and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and check the box beside “Run this program as administrator” under Settings. Save the changes and then launch Steam.

Check if the error persists after this.
It could be your anti-virus
A lot of players have reported the disk write error in Marvel Rivals due to their anti-virus accidentally quarantining a crucial game file. It’s probably the case for you, too, especially if you’re a Norton user.
To check this, open the anti-virus management app on your PC and check the list of recently quarantined files. If you find anything related to the game, restore it, and you should be able to download the update without hiccups.
