Elise hails from Noxus, a vast and complex empire in the League of Legends universe. On the Shadow Isles, she encountered Vilemaw, a monstrous spider-god who bit and transformed her into a hybrid creature who is part human, part spider. This metamorphosis granted her immortality and the restoration of her beauty, but at the cost of her humanity. As her whole identity is around spiders, she says this voiceline suggesting that the enemy is stuck in her web and close to getting devoured.
