The two teams heading into the weekend at the top of the North American League Championship Series saw widely different results just three weeks from the end of the season.

Team SoloMid, who earlier this week fired coach KC “Woodbuck” Woods, suffered a shock loss to underperforming Team Dignitas on the second day of play. Though Dignitas came into the week with just three wins in 10 games, the team managed to pull off the surprise victory in the face of TSM’s star-studded lineup.

TSM also tasted defeat at the hands of Cloud9, who leapfrogged them into second place.

Immortals, TSM’s rivals at the top of the table, continued their winning ways, coming out on top against Renegades and Team Liquid to move to 12-0—meaning the team is now guaranteed a playoff spot.

Immortals’ victory over Renegades consigned the league’s bottom placed team to their 11th defeat on the bounce. Though reaching the playoffs is still mathematically possible, it now seems likely that Renegades will have to play for their LCS future in the Summer Promotion tournament.

Echo Fox, who had languished near the bottom as they struggled for form and wrestled with visa problems, recorded their second undefeated week in a row. The team now appears to have hit its stride, besting Team Liquid and Team Impulse. With those results, Echo Fox have now moved from ninth to sixth in just two weeks.
